"Why England are failing? You mean failing as in qualifying undefeated?"

Yes smashing the mighty San Marino, be little my beating heart.

I'm more "worried" about the actual tournaments when you play sides a little better than standard of the Hornchurch Sunday league and the last one, lead by Woy was a fucking humiliation.

Of course defenders are allowed win the ball from corners but equally, I'd like our attackers to win a few as well

Re: Noble poor
Yep - Maybe also now people are realising that defenders are actually allowed to win the ball from corners?

Don't get me wrong England is boring these days and the squad doesn't get many people excited but they haven't failed and adding Noble to their squad would change nothing imo. I like Noble and want him in and around the starting 11, I was just having a chat with Alex with regards to him not being a guarenteed starter.

Indeed, on this very thread we have people screaming that Noble ALWAYS gives away the type of freekick Obiang did and of course from time to time all midfielders do but when challenged these people's mind goes blank and they struggle to actually give more than one example.

Re: Noble poor
Payet's corners are not much of an upgrade on Noble's but apart from that, I'd prefer him the box or the edge of the box, where he could do more damage

Re: Noble poor
I'll tell you what hasn't been mentioned - OBIANG'S foul on the edge of our box, and Payets 'SHIT' corners.

Now neither bother me, but they seemed to be major issues over the last few years?

"You also mention we were in a champions league place with him, we also folded and had relegation form afterwards.. With him in that same team?"

That would also be true of Alex Song would it not?

The POINT is Noble and Song formed an excellent partnership in the first half of last season and Song needs someone like Noble to do the donkey work for him, something England have missed and WOY's failed to address and why they have failed so badly.

Players make mistakes it's part and parcel of football. Alex Song for example giving away a school boy type penalty at White Hart Lane in injury time but Noble has also been at the very heart of THREE amazing away victories.

I know it's a bit crazy, but maybe Bilic has different views from you, 1993?

Jasnik 4:58 Thu Oct 1
Re: Noble poor
Talking about resting him he should have been rested for the cup game .

He made a mistake so what . If Billic still thinks he is good enough then Ill back him and the manager .

We have a very good squad now if he keeps making these mistakes then gets dropped so be it .

He is still important for us like the rest of the main squad players.

Re: Noble poor

Agreed, unfortunately it looks like that is the situation. It shouldn't be and I would hope Bilic may see it like us in that it doesn't have to be that way and that nobody really is a guarenteed starter!

Re: Noble poor

The mind boggles? Are you forgetting the game against Norwich where Noble made 2 mistakes which nearly gave Norwich all 3 points?

You also mention we were in a champions league place with him, we also folded and had relegation form afterwards.. With him in that same team? (They were all shit but your inclusion of Noble in the Champions League spots wasn't purely because of him it was collective, just like how we folded 2nd half of season.

This isn't a slag off Noble thread but your argument doesn't stack up.

I like two players in a defensive midfield as a proper shield. I think if we can get that working well we can have Payet play that central attacking role in every match. We did it against Newcastle - I don't see why we don't do it every match. I think it will suit players like Noble and Song because they won't get as exposed defensively.

Agreed if we do use the anchor role (as we have almost all the time under Allardyce and now Bilic) then Obiang should be first choice, he's been too good at it to ignore.

But we have to also be realistic - Song has played the anchor role most of his career, and Noble has been in our first team week in week out for more than half a decade. Realistically both will be first choices when fit - I don't agree with it but that just seems to be the likely outcome.

Terry Brady 4:42 Thu Oct 1

Indeed, he can only beat the poor sides put in front of him. He should have been sacked after the humiliation of England in the World Cup and failure will be our fate once more when we start to come across half decent sides.

Re: Noble poor
West Ham got into the Champions League positions with Song & Noble playing last season

West Ham are THIRD with Noble having played EVERY game...

The mind boggles

Re: Noble poor
Hermit,

The current European Championship is played 8 won 8. I know you can only beat what is in front of you but WOY isn''t doing anything wrong with what most think is an average squad.

Kayoute is massively overrated by a lot of our fans.

Hammers1993 4:37 Thu Oct 1
Re: Noble poor
See I don't think Song is best utlised as the anchor. I see our midfielder being at it's strongest as this:

---------Obiang----
--Kouyate---Song--

Obiang being the holding midfielder, which he is excellent at.

I agree with what you say about Kouyate to some extent but I think he's purely a box to box player, which he proves in front of goal, also think we would benefit if Song was further up the bitch, imagine him feeding those killer passes into Payet and then him doing is magic.

I honestly do not see how Noble would fit into the midfield when everyone is fit. Like somebody below has said making him captain may of been a little mistake as your club captain should be a GUARENTEED starter, which I don't think Noble is now, unfortunately for him.

I'd have thought after he signed his lucrative new contract he'd be quite rich, not poor.
